Frequently Asked Questions

What is a direct cremation?

A direct cremation is a simple, dignified, and affordable way to honor your loved one. After they are brought into our care, we take care of all the necessary arrangements, paperwork, and required authorizations before the cremation takes place. While this service does not include a viewing or formal ceremony, many families choose to hold a personal memorial or celebration of life at a later time that's meaningful to them.

Is a viewing required?

No. A viewing is not required for direct cremation, and it is not included with this service. If your family would like to hold a visitation, viewing, or funeral service before cremation, we are more than happy to provide guidance and how to obtain those services.

How long does the process take?

Every family's situation is unique, but most direct cremations are completed within 10–14 days. At Manor Cremations, Affordable direct cremation 24 hours still depends on receiving the required authorizations, the completion of the death certificate, and any approvals that may be required by the Medical Examiner. We'll keep you informed throughout the process and let you know when your loved one is ready to be returned to you.

What is included in the service?

Our direct cremation service includes everything needed to care for your loved one and complete the cremation process from beginning to end. We handle the transportation, required permits and authorizations, state filings, Medical Examiner coordination when needed, and the necessary certificates and notifications. Your loved one is cared for with dignity throughout the process and returned to your family in our complimentary Tree of Life wood urn.

Can I choose the cremation container?

Absolutely. Every direct cremation includes our complimentary Tree of Life wood urn. If your family plans to scatter your loved one's ashes at sea or choose burial, we also offer biodegradable urns designed for those purposes. If you have something different in mind, we'll gladly help you explore additional urn options so you can choose one that feels meaningful and right for your loved one.

When will I receive my loved one's ashes?

Once the cremation process is complete, we'll personally contact the next of kin to arrange a convenient pickup time. Your loved one's cremated remains will be returned in the selected urn along with the appropriate documentation.

Will someone be available if I call after hours?

Yes. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. No matter when you call, you'll speak with a caring professional who will guide you through the next steps and answer any questions you may have.

Can you place my loved one's cremated remains into a keepsake urn or pendant?
